Vegetable Gardening

So why bother growing your own vegetables at home?

Isn't it just a lot of work and a lot of hassle for not

much benefit?  Dirt under the fingernails and stained

jeans or dresses?  Sweat, exhaustion, and weeds galore?  Ahhhhh,

the above could all be true, but nothing beats a fresh-

picked chilled watermelon on a hot summer day.

Remember your grandmothers delicious dill pickles,

seasoned with fresh garlic and dill?  How about fresh

corn on the cob, lightly seasoned with salt and a dash

of butter?  Crisp lettuce and greens tossed in a

flavorful vinaigrette?  These are just a few of the things

you can enjoy from your own vegetable garden.  I've

kept my own fifty by hundred foot garden plot for

the last three years and have faced my own fair share

of insect pests, drought, excess rain, pesky critters, and

yes, even dirt under the fingernails!  Is it really

worth it???  Everyone who knows me knows my answer

is a resounding YES!!!  Working in your vegetable

garden can become a relaxing, enjoyable experience.
