Courtship...What Exactly Is It?

So what's the big deal about courtship? It seems like it's the current "trend" in the Christian world these days. Or is it a trend? Isn't courtship just another word for dating?

The big deal is this: the youth of today are getting ripped off. The teenage years should be a time of having fun, and cultivating relationships with God and family. But today’s teens spend their time engaging in multiple relationships with whoever happens to be at the top of their ‘hit’ list for the day or week. Instead of building a lasting, deep, intimate personal walk with Christ, teens spend their time on the phone, discussing “who’s going out with who” and who they “like” at the time. In this article, I intend to expose how today’s dating is destructive emotionally (and sometimes physically), and the other flaws I see with today’s dating. At the same time, I plan to point out how Biblical courtship addresses and gives a practical alternative to the pitfall of dating.
