Amish cooking reflects their people's German Heritage, the goodness of natures bounty and their simplistic view of life.  Generally speaking, Amish foods tend to be 'heavier' then we are used to, reflecting their hardworking outdoor life.

One day about five or six years ago, I happened across an Amish cookbook in our local library.  I liked the looks of the cover, so I checked it out.  The rest, you could say, is history!

From the first recipe I made, Rhubarb Dumplings, I was hooked to this simple and satisfying way of cooking.  I ended up finding and buying the book, Cooking From Quilt Country (by Marcia Adams) from Ebay.  Incidentally, it is now my favorite cookbook of the 104 I own (can you tell I like to cook and bake?)!!  I also have subscribed to Taste of Home and Quick Cooking magazines for the last three years.  Taste of Home is by far my favorite publication of the two!

I've included here some of my favorite Amish recipes.  I hope you enjoy them just as much as I have!
