Proverbs Ponderings!
I got the
idea for "Proverbs Ponderings" one morning while reading my daily
Proverbs. There were some verses I didn't understand and some that I
did. I decided to write the thoughts I had down, so enjoy my following
ponderings. I hope they will bless you, and make you think about the Mighty God
we serve, and also make you think how you might be a better soldier in His
Army!
The Book of
Proverbs, to put it simply, is a collection of practical instructions for successful
living.
Putting it
not as simply: the book of Proverbs contains hundreds, perhaps even thousands,
of proverbs. These Proverbs set high ethical standards and give practical advice
for daily living with wisdom and knowledge.
Proverbs
1:1-6 ~ These proverbs are given to us from Solomon son of David who was the
king of Israel. The purpose of these proverbs is to attain wisdom and
discipline and also to understand words of insight. The proverbs give
useful instruction for living a disciplined and prudent, or practical,
life. The book of Proverbs is designed to give prudence to the simple and
knowledge and discretion to the young (something that is very needed these
days!). The wise must listen to these proverbs and add to their
understanding. For discerning people, the proverbs are for guidance.
And lastly, the Proverbs are given to us to better understand parables,
proverbs, riddles and sayings of the wise.
Proverbs 1:7 ~ To fear
the Lord is only the beginning of knowledge!
