~My Journal ~

November 11, 2003

This morning I woke up early (while it was still dark), around 6:00, got dressed in my long underwear and the rest of my warm clothes.  Then I headed out to the woods behind our house to do some deer hunting -I'm using a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs.  I stayed out there for around two and a half hours and saw two deer (does, I am quite sure).  But neither of them were a clear or safe shot so I didn't shoot.  I was a little bit disappointed but I won't let that get me down!!  I plan to go out tonight at dusk and tomorrow morning again.

Right now I'm heading to the kitchen to make Pumpkin Cookies.  One of my families "fall traditions" you could say.  They're pretty tasty, especially with the browned butter frosting.  And they fill the house with warm, homey scents of the fall season.  I'll write more later!  ~Terra

Well, I'm back, but just for a moment!.  I did go out hunting again this evening for two and a half hours.  Didn't see one thing, not one deer.  That was a little disappointing, but I am going back out again tomorrow morning early.

I ran some errands in town today - the Library, Wal-Mart, the bank, Target, the grocery store.  Also helped clean the house for the Biblestudy Mom had here tonight.  Thats all for now!  Good night!  ~Terra

Well Happy Thanksgiving a day late!  I am sorry I haven't written in quite some time.  Let me just start back where I left off.

The last time I wrote was Tuesday November 11, 2003.  As of that time I hadn't yet gotten a deer.  But on Thursday November 13 around 6:45 in the morning, I got my FIRST deer.  I was so excited!  I shot a small doe.  Since that was the first deer I had seen in days, I decided not to be too picky in wanting to get a bigger-sized one.  So I shot her right through the heart.  Not too bad, I didn't think, especially since I had only shot the gun I was using (a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs) once before.  But I have target-practiced using smaller guns.  So anyways, that was an exciting time for me.  That night we had venison liver for supper (my grandma insisted that we couldn't let it go to waste).  That was really, uh, what's the word I am thinking of?  Yucky?  Well, anyways, it wasn't very good.  I like to eat liver, but beef is by far my favorite.  Venison is a very strong tasting liver.  Soon I will get some pictures of me with my deer on here.

Today I am cleaning up from Thanksgiving.  Which is what I should be doing now, actually.  ;o)  So I will write some more later.  God bless you! Bye for now, ~Terra
