Freedom
is not free- I’m
sure heard you’ve heard the saying before. But
did you ever stop to think what the words implore? Freedom is not free- The
young men walk off to fight, The
tall, the short, the heavy, the slight. Freedom
is not free- Our
young men, our boys, our sons, Walk
proud and tall, shouldering their guns.
Freedom is not free- How
many of them have died on foreign ground? How
many of them are now but a covered mound? Freedom is not free- How
many mothers’ tears have flown, How
many wives are now alone? Freedom is not free- How
many foxholes are now soldiers’ graves? How
many perished ‘neath the surging waves? Freedom is not free- The
cost was blood and sweat, Tears
and pain, wishes and regret. Freedom
is not free-
Please do not take for granted What
these brave men have planted. Freedom is not free- Some people neglect to understandHow
great the sacrifice is to dwell in this land. Freedom is not free- Our
soldiers spilled their blood As
they trod upon the air, the waters, the mud. Freedom is not free- Their
hopes, their dreams were shattered. Old
Glory worn and tattered. Freedom is not free- Hearts
once beat are now silent and still They
can no longer their dreams fulfill. Freedom is not free- Their
lives were a lamp, snuffed out in the night. Their
legacy of freedom will now take flight.
Freedom is not free- Let
their deaths not be in vain. May freedom's torch burn forever - the victors flame. Freedom is not free-
My
friend, do you know who these brave men died for? Our
soldiers died, and yet their voices implore: Freedom is not free- “I
died for freedom, I died for you.” “I
died for the ones yet to be born, too.” "please
remember this when you think of me: "No, my friend, freedom is not free."
